Heroes Of Annihilated Empires

It's hard not to wonder how good a hero you are if your empire is annihilated. Yet there's more amiss in GSC Game World's strategy/role-playing hybrid than its awkward title. Heroes of Annihilated Empires is pleasant but inelegant, clumsily cobbling together a mishmash of ideas in a congenial wrapper that's too friendly to hate and too half-baked to love. Every good idea is hobbled by poor execution, yet Heroes exudes an undeniable charm that tries hard to make up for a myriad of shortcomings. But in the end, it's just not enough to overcome broken features and a nagging suspicion that the game simply wasn't ready to be shipped.

Heroes Of Annihilated Empires

You'll see the game marketed as a unique combination of RTS and RPG gameplay. This has been a very common claim made by many developers and publishers over the last few years but all it amounts to is that some of your RTS units will persist from mission to mission and will grow in power. Everytime your hero kills an enemy creature he'll gain experience. Gain enough and you'll be able to pick a small upgrade to one of your abilities -- defense against certain weapon types, faster attack speed or range, more health, more mana, etc. You can further refine your character by buying or finding magic cards that you can use for additional special abilities. Your heroes can also be developed by purchasing and equipping unique items. Since most of these items have drawbacks as well as advantages, you'll find yourself tinkering with your inventory quite a bit before you find the right balance of items. Players who are expecting to face an enemy who plays by the same rules will be disappointed in the main campaign. Instead of facing off against other bases and settlements, you'll merely be hunting down a series of monster generators located around the maps. Since your enemies don't seem to rely on resource collecting to produce wave after wave of units, you'll do well to launch immediate attacks in whatever direction the enemies are coming from. Otherwise, you'll have to endure endless waves of undead soldiers who will eventually overpower your forces.

The player's hero is released earlier in RTS mode. I decided to stray away from the RPG mode in multiplayer in favor of getting access to heroes for more interesting RTS play. RPG mode should still function as usual, but expect your RTS opponents to catch up if you linger.Hero run ability speeds increased from 50% to 100%, but length reduced by half.

Plant wall now uses 80 mana to summon 6 plants, scaling up to 16 plants at level 50.Call of nature now scales up more with levels.'Summon' now summons exploding spiders instead of rats and their numbers increase every seven levels.Frost now scales up in both duration and damage. 110 mana to 90 mana. Hero paralysis was bought in line with other spells.Petrification 75 mana to 65 mana.Acid wave no longer erroneously grants the enemy armor bonuses.'Mine' now spawns an additional mine every 5 levels. Mana 50 to 60. Explosion movement force lowered.Ice arrow damage scales better.Ice sphere damage scales slightly better.Firestorm radius scales with level, gains more damage per level, but has slightly reduced building damage.Tree of life radius scales up, but very slowly. Tree of life's health increases with caster level.Acid radius slightly increases each level. Acid damage eventually rises above fireball.Lightning storm now stuns up to 20 units for a short duration. Lightning eye radius increased from 350 to 400, rate of fire increased greatly with a small damage reduction.Fear radius now scales up. Fear duration reduced for scaling.Necrosis now deals 75 AOE damage and converts units as it was supposed to.Earthfist now deals slightly less building damage.Astral casting range 400->500.Invisibility radius scales up slowly.Magic weapon damage and radius scales with level.Rune of fire damage scales slightly better.Snare duration reduced to sensible levels, damage scales up slightly.Blindness casting range 600 -> 900. Blindness is now AOE but requires a direct target.Polymorph is on an 80 second timer and now actually polymorphs enemy targets. The duration on enemy heroes was increased slightly, but the transformed health of the hero is higher. Using polymorph offensively works better on targets with higher HP and if your level is lower than the target.Deathtrick now works properly. Deathtrick is now instant cast. Added protection against magical damage. Cooldown 80->28. Duration 55s->14s. Deathtrick can now only affect allies, as it was too effective against high HP targets.

Did you ever wonder where legends, sagas and characters like elves, gnomes, dragons and mages - the races and creatures we typically refer to as fictional fantasy archetypes - come from? As we say - There is no smoke without fire. If any gossip and writings get spread around, there must be some link between what was imagined and reality. Even an authentically candid lie or skillfully disguised fiction bears links with true to life events. We are breaking the seal on the door to myths and legends; the entrance to a world where magic was commonplace, the gateway to Empires long ago extinct. The memories of them were methodically erased from the public consciousness, and have remained in oblivion for ages. Now, the time has come to take a step through that door leading to a distant reality where mysterious people lived and their societies where lived heroes keen on defending their lands until the last drop of blood. You will find the truth about what happened to that ancient world of magic and why our knowledge of it is so scanty. The game Heroes of Annihilated Empires is the key to that world's door.

Let the battle begin! The Cossacks II: Battle for Europe add-on continues the renowned Cossacks II:Napoleonic Wars game. It depicts the rather short historic period of the Napoleonic wars. The Napoleon wars changed Europe forever, leading to the formation of empires and putting an end to almost one thousand years of constant strife between small states. The game provides mass-scale battles between nations involved in conflicts during this period whose armies numbered in the thousands. The theatres of operation introduce France, Britain, Austria, Russia, Prussia, Egypt, and three nations not represented in the original game - Spain, the Grand Duchy of Warsaw (Poland), and the Confederation of the Rhine.Cossacks II: Battle for Europe reconstructs in detail the soldiers' uniforms, weapons and architecture of each nation. Each nation's army has its unique units and possibilities. The game includes over 180 units 190 buildings and 1200 flora and fauna elements. When developing the combat system the peculiarities of early 19th century warring were taken into account as was the value of formations provisions and troop morale. Tactical tricks utilized by military commanders of the time are fully reflected in the game. An honest system of bullet and cannonball ballistics based on physics is an innovative addition to the Cossacks engine. Other engine features include 3-dimensional landscaping which creates realistic-looking scenery and towns which impact combat tactics. For example the firing range of a subdivision of soldiers or a cannon positioned at the top of a hill is greater than the firing range of a unit stationed on flat terrain.

Patch v. 1.1.We are happy to report the players' extensive feedback and very active participation in testing of the recently launched beta-version of Heroes of Annihilated Empires. In the heat of the testing process, we would like to highlight the goals which we primarily pursue with this open beta test effort.Beta testing goals: 1. To demonstrate the current state of the game, specifically theengine, graphics and the gameplay basics. This in mind, we had assembled a separate, non-game mission to represent the above-mentioned elements on one map. It should be noted that by far not all of the game mechanics were demonstrated, while many elements present in the version are rather abridged too: The mission has incomplete upgrades system, no flying units, fleet, walls, which the full game will provide; There has not been activated the possibility to select enemy units, view their vulnerable spots, characteristics and abilities; The mission does not have AI in the sense of "choosing the weakest target spots", "maneuvering", "evaluating enemy strength", "base build-up". 2. Due to the game being done on the new engine - to test the game version compatibility with various non-standard configurations (which are very common as the test proved); In response to the feedback and multiple requests of the players to have tried the beta version, we have prepared the first patch fixing a considerable number of technical and game bugs, so as improving the performance drastically.Patch fixes: Critical! 1. Black screen bug, aka blinking screen bug fixed (a problem with wrong display drivers so that the game does not understand the maximal usable screen refresh rate). The options added to the launcher (HeroesOfAE.exe) allow you to choose in between safe mode or higher refresh rate. Major! 2. Pathfinding improved (but still to be improved in further versions). Major! 3. Arrows and 2-3 fps bug fixed (arrows no longer stay on the ground). Major! 4. Performance considerably increased owing to new shadow quality option added (low). Major! 5. Fog of war method completely redone (panoramic view (PageDown(View) + high zoom out) looks stunning). Minor! 6. Minor change in mission script. AI increases power through time by carrying out zombie upgrades. It gets tougher to play now on later stages of the game. Minor! 7. Zooming function changed to allow deeper zoom-in + no need to constantly press the zooming button, the stances switching now (zoom-in, standard view, zoom-out). Minor! 8. Game logic changed to increase the performance (enables performance boost on virtually all machines) Minor! 9. Smaller balance tweaks. Info! 10. In-game hint with hot-key info added Surprise!!! 11. Interface redone (new styling).
